About the Role
Scala Biodesign is building ScalaOS, a next-generation protein design platform transforming how scientists develop therapeutics, diagnostics, materials, food, and chemicals.
Originating from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Scala enables R&D teams to push the boundaries of protein performance across activity, selectivity, stability, and safety.
By making advanced computational design accessible, Scala accelerates innovation across drug discovery, enzyme engineering, and biomanufacturing. Scala is already working with leading global pharmaceutical and biotech companies - including 10 of the top pharma organizations - and is looking to expand its presence in the US market.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-growing biotech startup and play a key role in building its presence in the US. As an Account Executive, you will work closely with top pharma and biotech companies, helping bring cutting-edge protein design software technologies into real-world R&D. You’ll engage with top scientific and business leaders, and play a central role in how ScalaOS is adopted across the industry. This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
Responsibilities
Lead business development efforts across biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the US, from identifying opportunities to closing enterprise deals.
Drive commercial engagement with leading biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the US, building your pipeline from the ground up and owning the full journey from first conversation to signed partnership.
Building long-term relationships and growing partnerships across key accounts.
Develop and refine sales playbooks based on market learnings and customer interactions.
Work closely with internal teams (scientific, product, legal) to build proposals tailored to different customer needs.
Represent Scala at industry conferences and events, strengthening the company’s presence in the market.
Bring market feedback and customer insights to support product and strategy decisions.
Requirements
Advanced degree in life sciences (e.g. structural/molecular biology, bioinformatics, pharmaceutical sciences, biochemical engineering), or equivalent experience working with R&D teams in biotech or pharma
5+ years of experience in enterprise sales (preferably in SaaS) within biotech, pharma, or related domains
Proven track record of closing large, multi-year enterprise deals
Strong understanding of biologics and R&D workflows in pharma/biotech
Established network within the biotech/pharma ecosystem in the US (East Coast preferred)
Ability to operate independently and drive business development in a new and evolving market
Experience in a high-growth startup environment
